What kind of maintenance/cleaning dose a dyson(bag-less) hoover need.?

We have to take both the filters out and wash them regularly - even the HEPA one that Dyson says don't take out or it invalidates your warranty. If we don't it doesn't suck up well. We empty every time as well - not just when full. Experienced in a house with furry animals...
