“The Tell- Tale Heart” is a well- known clic by the horror author Edgar Allan Poe, which has references to insanity and 1st degree murder. Insanity is a mental illness or psychosis which causes the person to lose touch with reality. It must be a severe nature to be counted as a plea of insanity. The legal meaning of 1st degree murder means that the murder was planed to begin with. Murder by 1st degree is usually part of a larger scheme after lying in wait. It often involves weapons. In “The Tell- Tale Heart” the narrator is insane and has a mental disease and there are many reasons why he is insane with evidence to prove it.
